The gown she is wearing as well as the wrap in this portrait are from our Prop Closet. We have a variety of gowns to choose from for your session. You have unlimited wardrobe changes during your portrait session. All of our maternity gowns are custom designed specifically for Pregnancy Portraits, and can easily be clipped and pinned so it fits you perfectly. We have gowns that can show off your bump as well as some that are sheer and can delicately showcase your baby bump.

The best time to complete your maternity session is late in your third trimester, usually 28-34 weeks. This allows you to capture the fullness of your pregnant form but not be too uncomfortable for posing. If you are beyond 34 weeks; don’t worry. We have photographed expectant moms up until the week of their delivery. Most moms opt for a morning of pampering before their session: hair, nails and make up. We can recommend a nearby salon that will pamper you and properly apply your make up before your session. Then after your session, enjoy a nice dinner out with your special someone to complete your fun day.

It is recommended that you photographed newborns between 7-12 days old. If you are a new Mom, or have never had your newborn photographed professionally you may be wondering why. This time frame is recommended so that your baby will sleep a bit more and so that they are still flexible since their bones and muscles have not fully developed. Babies that are older than this will typically stretch out more and reach out more with their hands during their sessions, and also may not want to be scrunched up or swaddled. We always receive calls after a baby has been born, and Moms are panicked because they did not pre-schedule their baby’s newborn session weeks in advance. We always leave room in our calendars for these last minute sessions. We also believe that it is very important to have your newborn’s photographed even if they are older than the recommended time frame of 7-12 days old. We know older babies will need to be handled differently and accommodations made for extra feedings during the session. Houston Newborn Photographer

Houston newborn photographer, Lisa Carr of Belly to Baby Studios, recently photographed this newborn girl in the studio. Before this client arrived with her family, we pre-selected the props and accessories for her newborn’s portraits. We had a phone consultation before the session to discuss the scope the session and the best clothing options for everyone that would be included in the portrait.

We believe in creating timeless artwork for families to enjoy for years to come. In a day and age when digital imagery is all around us, it is nice to have artwork hanging in a home. Printed artwork will last well beyond the limited life of technology. Printed artwork is not dependent upon IOS updates, compatibility issues, and does not need to be backed up in the cloud. You can also find your printed artwork and look at it quicker than the time it takes to unlock your phone.

We have all the backgrounds, baskets, hats and diaper covers so all you need to do is arrive with your baby! You can view our Prop Closet here. Just remember to bring plenty of formula or milk with you, and extra diapers. You can relax in a private room during your newborn’s session and get some much needed rest. Belly to Baby Studios offers newborn photography in Houston, TX. A newborn’s first photography session is recommended to be scheduled within 7-12 days of birth. We recommend calling and having a consult before your session so you can prepare in advance. We always have an assistant on set to help with baby safety, and posing. We want to make sure your baby is relaxed and in good hands during the session. We do have a variety of props such as wraps, backdrops, baskets, pants, diaper covers, tutus, hats and hair accessories in a variety of soothing colors.

We strive to create artwork for your home that can be hung in a nursery or hallway. Newborns stay this small for a short window of time. So many parents come back to us at 3 months and 6 months to document the growth of their baby. It is very important to capture this time in a baby’s life since they grow so fast.

Clothing choice is a key ingredient to making sure your portrait stays timeless. We recommend solid colored clothing, and long sleeves so the focus is more on your relationship versus your clothing. All of our printed portraits include retouching so you can guarantee you will look like you have had ten hours of sleep. Our studio is located in a professional office building, and is equipped with a private nursing and relaxation room that is available during your baby’s session.
