Is It Safe to Have Newborn Portraits Done?
5 Things You Need to Know

When you’re pregnant, one of the things you may start to think about is newborn portraits. But is it safe to have newborn portraits done? It is crucial to ensure that your newborn is safe and comfortable during the shoot. In this blog post, we will discuss 5 things you need to know before having newborn portraits taken.

  1. Choose an Experienced Newborn Portraits Photographer
When selecting a newborn photographer, prioritize their experience in newborn portrait photography and their expertise in safely posing newborns. Ensure that the photographer is up-to-date on newborn safety guidelines. Request to see their portfolio to gauge their proficiency in this specialized field. Finding an experienced photographer is vital for your baby’s safety and capturing beautiful portraits.
  2. Inquire About Safety Procedures
Ask the photographer about their safety procedures, including how they handle unexpected issues like fussy newborns or discomfort during the session. At Belly to Baby Studios, we maintain a clean studio environment, wash props after each use, and have a dedicated assistant to aid with baby safety throughout the session. Your baby’s safety is our top priority.
  3. Verify Vaccination and Studio Cleanliness
Prioritize your baby’s safety by ensuring that the photographer and their assistant are up-to-date on necessary vaccinations to protect against infections. The studio should be clean and free of bacteria. Newborns are sensitive to temperature, so confirm that the studio will maintain a warm environment. You can also bring your baby’s blanket or wrap to enhance their comfort.
  4. Always Have an Assistant Present
Newborns should never be left unattended during a photography session. It’s essential to have an assistant present to guarantee the safety of both your baby and the photographer. At Belly to Baby Studios, we always have an assistant on set to ensure your baby’s relaxation and safety throughout the session.
  5. Awareness of Potential Hazards
Be vigilant about potential hazards in the photography studio, such as cords and other objects that could harm your newborn. Ensure that the photographer is aware of these risks and takes necessary precautions to protect your baby. Don’t hesitate to voice your concerns and ask questions. Your comfort and safety are paramount during this precious time.

What age is best to photograph a newborn baby?

Join us as we unravel the intricacies surrounding the perfect time frame for these profoundly heartwarming newborn photography portraits.

What’s the Ideal Newborn Age for Newborn Photography?

The golden window for capturing the essence of newborns spans from 7 to 12 days after birth. For those new mothers or individuals unfamiliar with the realm of professional portraiture, the rationale is simple. During this period, newborns tend to sleep more soundly, and their delicate bones and muscles are still pliable – rendering those serene poses a seamless endeavor.

Older Baby Portrait Sessions

if you miss the optimal window – there’s a silver lining! Older babies come with their own special charm. They’re all about stretching, exploring, and proudly displaying their tiny hands and feet. We understand that life can be quite the whirlwind with a newborn. That’s why we’ve kept some slots open in our schedule for those unplanned sessions that might come up after your baby has already made their debut. Your convenience matters to us!

We also believe that it is very important to have your newborn’s photographed even if they are older than the recommended time frame of 7-12 days old. We know older babies will need to be handled differently and accommodations made for extra feedings during the session. Also we love to capture awake babies during the newborn portrait session, and we allow extra time for these poses as well.

We also love to capture Family Portraits during the newborn portrait session. A professional family portrait can also be used as a holiday card or as a gift for family. And, of course, it is a wonderful way to document your family’s history.

1. Exploring Wall Art Options for Displaying Maternity Portraits

Wall art is a great way to showcase Maternity Portraits in your home. There are many different options available, each with its own unique look and feel. From traditional frames to shadowboxes and canvas prints, there’s something for everyone.

One of the most popular choices for displaying Maternity Portraits is a framed print. You can choose a custom frame to match the décor of your home, or you can opt for a more traditional style such as gold or silver. Framed prints tend to look best in large sizes, so if you’re looking for a statement piece then this is the option for you.

After your session, we will project your images in our studio and help you select your favorite images. This will make it easier to for you decide which portraits should go on your wall or in your album. You can virtually see your portraits hung on your walls in your home during the personalized in studio portrait ordering appointment.

We can also show you the proper size Wall Portrait Art based on the space in your home where the portrait will reside.

Canvas prints have become increasingly popular in recent years as a way to display Maternity Portraits. Canvas prints look best when printed on large sizes, as they make a beautiful statement piece in any room. The texture of the canvas also adds an extra touch of sophistication and artistry that can’t be achieved with framed prints.

Creating a photo album is another great option for displaying Maternity Portraits. An album allows you to keep all of your favorite images in one place and can make a beautiful addition to any coffee table or bookshelf.

3. Utilizing a Portrait Box to Store and Share Your Portraits

For those who want to keep their Maternity Portraits safe from wear and tear, a portrait box is an ideal option. This type of box is designed specifically to store matted portraits, so you can ensure that your photos are well-protected. Plus, a portrait box can make it easier to share your photos with friends and family.

Simply put the portraits in the box and pass it around. The box can also be used as a keepsake, giving you something tangible to remember this special time in your life.
