When Should You Schedule Newborn Photography?
We recommend contacting the studio during pregnancy so your session can be planned around your baby’s due date.
Newborn portraits are commonly photographed during the first two weeks after birth, when babies often sleep more deeply and naturally curl into the small poses associated with newborn photography.
If your baby is older than two weeks, that does not mean you have missed the opportunity. Older newborns can still be photographed beautifully. The session may simply include more awake portraits, natural stretching and different posing based on your baby’s comfort.
If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, we will adjust the session timing accordingly.

Lisa and her assistant use gentle posing and support techniques appropriate for each baby. We never force a pose simply to create a particular photograph. If your baby needs to feed, stretch, be changed or take a break, we stop and allow the session to move at your baby’s pace.
Wraps, blankets and frequently used studio items are cleaned between sessions, and the studio is prepared before each newborn appointment.
Every baby is different. Some newborns sleep through much of the session while others are more alert. Both can result in beautiful portraits.

We will discuss the style of portraits you prefer, whether parents and siblings will participate, wardrobe choices and any meaningful family items you would like to include.
When you arrive at the studio, we allow time for feeding and settling your baby before photography begins.
Newborn sessions are intentionally not rushed. Feeding, diaper changes and comforting breaks are expected and built into the experience.
Most newborn sessions may take approximately two to three hours depending on your baby’s needs and the number of portraits being created.
Lisa will guide parents and siblings through their portraits as well, so you do not need to know how to pose.
